What to Expect

Take time to pause, unwind, and reconnect in a calm and welcoming space exclusively at The Nook Yoga Studio in Tewkesbury.

Your session takes place in a private treatment room designed to help you feel comfortable, supported, and at ease. You’ll relax on an adjustable treatment couch, making it easier for those with mobility concerns to get on and off comfortably. Soft lighting, gentle aromas, cosy blankets, and a peaceful atmosphere help create a space where you can fully switch off and recharge.

Before your session, we’ll spend a few minutes checking in and discussing how you’re feeling and what you’d most like support with. During the treatment, you’ll remain fully clothed while relaxing comfortably as Reiki is delivered through light touch or hands held just above the body.

After your session, there will be time to reflect, ask questions, and discuss any observations or insights that arose during the treatment.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle, natural form of energy healing. It helps to bring balance to your body, mind, and emotions ā€” supporting relaxation, stress relief, and inner peace.

You donā€™t need to do anything ā€” just lie down, relax, and let the healing unfold.

Reiki can be received in person ā€” where I gently place my hands on or above your body ā€” or from a distance, with the same calming effects. Whether you’re lying on a treatment couch or relaxing at home, Reiki meets you where you are.

I offer both in-person and distant Reiki sessions ā€” and both are equally powerful in different ways.

During an in-person session, youā€™ll be welcomed into a calm, nurturing space. Youā€™ll lie down fully clothed on a treatment couch while I gently place my hands on or just above your body, guided intuitively to where healing is needed.

Distant Reiki is just as effective and relaxing ā€” the energy is not limited by time or space. At an agreed time, youā€™ll relax at home while I carry out the session remotely. We connect energetically, much like tuning into a frequency.

What to expect:

šŸŒæ Guidance on how to prepare (e.g., get cosy, light a candle, etc.)
šŸŒæ A full Reiki session sent to you with the same intention and care
šŸŒæ Optional follow-up message or chat about the session afterward

Youā€™ll then lie down fully clothed on a comfortable healing couch, surrounded by soft music and calming energy. Iā€™ll place my hands lightly on or just above areas Iā€™m intuitively guided to work with. You simply rest, receive, and allow the energy to flow.

For distant sessions, weā€™ll agree on a time and Iā€™ll connect with your energy from my healing space. Youā€™ll find a quiet, comfortable place to relax at home ā€” lying down or sitting with your eyes closed ā€” while I send Reiki to you with the same care and intention.

Beforehand, Iā€™ll invite you to share what you’d like to focus on, and afterward, Iā€™ll check in with any insights or impressions that came through during the session.

šŸ’› It’s completely normal to feel a little unsure if itā€™s your first time. Iā€™ll guide you every step of the way, and youā€™re welcome to share any questions or intentions before we begin.

Every Reiki session is unique, because every person is unique ā€” and thatā€™s completely normal.

Some people feel physical sensations like warmth, tingling, or gentle waves of energy. Others see colours or images in their mindā€™s eye, or feel emotional release as the energy shifts. Many simply feel calm, relaxed, or even fall asleep ā€” and thatā€™s absolutely fine. Reiki continues to flow and support you whether you’re awake or deeply resting.

Common experiences include:

Reiki isnā€™t about belief. Itā€™s a gentle practice that supports your bodyā€™s natural ability to rest, restore, and rebalance. Many clients report feeling calmer, clearer, lighter, and more groundedā€”even after just one session. And while Reiki is subtle and non-invasive, there is also growing research that supports its benefits.

The UK Reiki Federation shares a wide range of scientific studies and meta-analyses exploring Reikiā€™s effect on pain, anxiety, stress, and overall wellbeing. While many of these studies involve small sample groups, the overall results are promising and worth exploring.

Rachel carried out a remote Reiki healing for me, which was both powerful and enlightening. During the session, right at the beginning, I experienced strong unease, difficulty breathing, then it eased, and I felt relaxed. For a couple of days following the session, I felt absolutely exhausted. I listened to my body and rested more, plus I made sure I ate a lot more nuts, etc, when needing a snack rather than a sweeter option. I gradually began to feel more balanced. The report on what Rachel found during my session matched what is and has happened in my life. The feeling at the beginning made perfect sense with a situation surrounding me.
