What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, natural form of energy healing. It helps to bring balance to your body, mind, and emotions — supporting relaxation, stress relief, and inner peace.
You don’t need to do anything — just lie down, relax, and let the healing unfold.
How Does Reiki Work?
Reiki can be received in person — where I gently place my hands on or above your body — or from a distance, with the same calming effects. Whether you’re lying on a treatment couch or relaxing at home, Reiki meets you where you are.
I offer both in-person and distant Reiki sessions — and both are equally powerful in different ways.
🧘♀️ In-Person Reiki
During an in-person session, you’ll be welcomed into a calm, nurturing space. You’ll lie down fully clothed on a treatment couch while I gently place my hands on or just above your body, guided intuitively to where healing is needed.
What to expect:
🌿 A warm, peaceful treatment room
🌿 Soothing music and soft lighting
🌿 Gentle touch or hovering hands over key areas
🌿 Time to chat before and after your session
🌍 Distant Reiki
Distant Reiki is just as effective and relaxing — the energy is not limited by time or space. At an agreed time, you’ll relax at home while I carry out the session remotely. We connect energetically, much like tuning into a frequency.
What to expect:
🌿 A session from the comfort of your own space
🌿 Guidance on how to prepare (e.g., get cosy, light a candle, etc.)
🌿 A full Reiki session sent to you with the same intention and care
🌿 Optional follow-up message or chat about the session afterward
What Can Reiki Help With?
Reiki can support a wide range of emotional, physical, and energetic imbalances — gently guiding you back to a state of calm, clarity, and alignment. Whether received in person or from a distance, Reiki works intuitively to meet you where you are and give you what you most need in the moment.
🧘♀️ In-Person Reiki
🌿 Tension, aches, or physical discomfort
🌿 Anxiety, overwhelm, or emotional heaviness
🌿 Feeling stuck or disconnected from yourself
🌿 Restoring energy after burnout, illness, or grief
🌿 Releasing past emotions or experiences held in the body
🌿 Grounding you into your body and present moment
🌍 Distant Reiki
🌿 Emotional stress, worry, or mental fatigue
🌿 Clearing energy patterns or blocks — even across time
🌿 Working with past experiences that still affect you today
🌿 Gaining clarity during transitions or decision-making
🌿 Supporting sleep, relaxation, and nervous system balance
🌿 Offering comfort during times of loneliness, change, or spiritual seeking
Reiki isn’t about fixing you — it’s about supporting your natural healing process and gently clearing what’s no longer serving you.
⚠️ Important Note
💛 Please remember: Reiki is a complementary practice — not a substitute for medical advice or treatment. If you have a medical condition, injury, or mental health concern, please consult a qualified healthcare professional. Reiki can support your healing journey, but it is not a replacement for professional care.
What happens during a Reiki session?
Whether you receive Reiki in person or from a distance, the intention is the same — to offer a safe, supportive space for your body and energy to come back into balance.
🧘♀️ In-Person Reiki
You’ll be welcomed into a peaceful, private treatment room where we begin with a gentle chat about what you’d like support with. This could include physical tension, emotional stress, life changes, or anything that feels heavy or unclear.
You’ll then lie down fully clothed on a comfortable healing couch, surrounded by soft music and calming energy. I’ll place my hands lightly on or just above areas I’m intuitively guided to work with. You simply rest, receive, and allow the energy to flow.
🌍 Distant Reiki
For distant sessions, we’ll agree on a time and I’ll connect with your energy from my healing space. You’ll find a quiet, comfortable place to relax at home — lying down or sitting with your eyes closed — while I send Reiki to you with the same care and intention.
Beforehand, I’ll invite you to share what you’d like to focus on, and afterward, I’ll check in with any insights or impressions that came through during the session.
💛 Both styles of Reiki offer deep rest, energetic clearing, and emotional release. One isn’t better than the other — it’s all about what works best for you in this moment.
How do I prepare for a session?
There’s no need to do anything complicated — Reiki is gentle, intuitive, and meets you exactly where you are. Whether you’re joining me in person or receiving a distant session from home, here’s how you can prepare in a way that feels grounded and simple:
🧘♀️ In-Person Reiki
🌿 Wear comfy clothing so you can relax fully
🌿 Arrive a few minutes early to settle in
🌿 Bring a bottle of water for after your session
🌿 Come with an open mind — there’s no right or wrong way to feel
🌍 Distant Reiki
🌿 Choose a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed
🌿 Lie down or sit comfortably with a blanket or cushion
🌿 Have water nearby and switch off distractions
🌿 If you like, light a candle or set a gentle intention
Whether we meet face to face or connect across distance, Reiki will flow to wherever it’s needed most — all you need to do is allow yourself to receive.
💛 It’s completely normal to feel a little unsure if it’s your first time. I’ll guide you every step of the way, and you’re welcome to share any questions or intentions before we begin.
What might I feel or experience?
Every Reiki session is unique, because every person is unique — and that’s completely normal.
Some people feel physical sensations like warmth, tingling, or gentle waves of energy. Others see colours or images in their mind’s eye, or feel emotional release as the energy shifts. Many simply feel calm, relaxed, or even fall asleep — and that’s absolutely fine. Reiki continues to flow and support you whether you’re awake or deeply resting.
Common experiences include:
🌿 A deep sense of peace or stillness
🌿 Warmth or tingling in certain areas
🌿 Emotions surfacing gently and passing
🌿 Feeling clearer, lighter, or more grounded afterwards
There’s no right or wrong way to experience Reiki. You don’t need to do anything — just allow yourself to receive.
💛 If you feel nervous or unsure beforehand, that’s okay too. It’s completely natural to feel curious or even a little uncertain. I’ll guide you gently through the session and answer any questions you have along the way.
Does Reiki Really Work?
It’s natural to ask this—especially if you’ve never experienced energy healing before.
Reiki isn’t about belief. It’s a gentle practice that supports your body’s natural ability to rest, restore, and rebalance. Many clients report feeling calmer, clearer, lighter, and more grounded—even after just one session. And while Reiki is subtle and non-invasive, there is also growing research that supports its benefits.
The UK Reiki Federation shares a wide range of scientific studies and meta-analyses exploring Reiki’s effect on pain, anxiety, stress, and overall wellbeing. While many of these studies involve small sample groups, the overall results are promising and worth exploring.
If you’re curious, here are a few places to explore Reiki research for yourself:
🔬 Reiki Research Studies
Meta-Analysis on Pain Relief

Authors: Thrane & Cohen (2014)
Findings: Reiki significantly reduced pain and anxiety across multiple clinical settings.
Randomized Controlled Trial – Heart Rate & Blood Pressure
Title: Effect of Reiki on autonomic nervous system parameters
Authors: Baldwin & Schwartz (2006)

Reiki for Anxiety and Depression in Cancer Patients
Title: The effectiveness of Reiki in the treatment of depression in cancer patients
Authors: Bossi, Ott, DeCristofaro (2008)
Findings: Reiki showed a significant reduction in depression and improved quality of life in oncology patients receiving it alongside conventional treatment.
Whether you’re looking for peace, clarity, stress relief, or emotional support—Reiki works in partnership with your body’s innate wisdom. And sometimes, the best way to know if it works… is to simply try.
⚠️ Important Note Reiki is not a substitute for medical care. It is, however, a beautiful complement.
